Live Blues In Stockton
Sutter Street Cafe Re-ignites Downtown

Think there's no place to catch hot live entertainment in Stockton?

Wrong!

The Sutter Street Cafe has brought back the buzz to downtown Stockton in a BIG way! Not just weekly live blues blowouts, not just great jam session where you can plug in with the pros, not just cutting edge dramatic performances, but even classic bands like the legendary Canned Heat. With a bunch of fellow boogiers, a fully stocked bar and refreshments, two levels of seating, a night at the Sutter is the hot spot to go with friends and meet new ones.

Just ask popular SSC performer Mark Hummel.

"The crowds that have been showing up are great. They love the music. I've really had a good time playing for crowds in the valley, much more appreciative than Bay Area audiences 'cause they know how to let their hair down! And I live in the Bay Area, so I know what I'm talking about!"

Hummel, the highly respected Bluesman is just one of the artists who have graced the Cafe. The list also includes the Mofo Party Blues Band, Steve Freund, Ron Thompson and many other talented musicians.

Like the Cafe itself, the entertainment itinerary is the brainchild of owner Ronnie Lozano who is satisfying the long expressed desire for live music in Stockton. Along with the Bob Hope Theatre and the Century 16 Theatres, he's helping to make downtown Stockton a viable entertainment commodity.

Mark Hummel agrees.

"I think it's great and sorely needed. There hasn't been a live blues venue in Stockton for 20 years or more. Ronnie's trying to do a good thing and needs fans to support what he's bringing in."

"Ronnie always looks after the bands the way it should be, taking care to be a good host. I know he got in this for the music, and that's always the right motivator."

Of course, the live music at the Sutter Street Cafe is more than just entertainment, it helps strengthen the community by creating a place to hear fantastic music that Stocktonians don't have to travel across the city limits to enjoy.

But let's not too get too intellectual about it -- just come on down to the Sutter Street Cafe and boogie!
