FEATURED BAND O' THE MONTH

Three Second Rule

When I first heard Three Second Rule, I immediately began to play that "who do they remind me of?" game. The best comparison I can come up with is some kind of marriage between Green Day and the Dead Milkmen - though I'd definitely say that their sound is all their own. Songs like "Little Vampire Boy Meets Little Vampire Girl" and "My Valley Song" offer infectious hooks and slightly off beat lyrics - one of the traits I look for in music I'd actually purchase.

Three Second Rule's members include vocalist/guitarist Rikki Romero, drummer Chris Myers, bassist Corry Jobin (who seems to prefer Jobin) and lead guitarist Mike Bigelow. TSR have only been playing together for six months, but the cumulative years of experience for the foursome exceeds forty years - not bad considering that they all definitely fall into the "Can I see some ID?" category.

The band rocked the Blackwater Café during their first-ever Stockton show earlier this month. There were plenty of fans bobbing their heads to the beat and singing along with the lyrics. Of the fans I talked to, the general consensus was "Their sound is really coming together. They freaking rock!"

(L to R:  Mike Bigelow, Rikki Romero, Chris Myers and Jobin)

Despite having day jobs, the band will have a busy March as they perform with Michigan-based Five Year Echo. Check their site for complete tour information. Local music fans with access to Roseville 's Channel 18 can catch them on Wednesday, February 25 th at 7 pm .

In addition to playing live shows, Three Second Rule is currently recording a full-length album with Tracy 's own Cyanide Records. If you can't wait for the real thing, two short video clips are available on their website.
